I have discovered various individuals in the most unusual places. Each were unique in their own ways. Most went on to travel the world and achieve in the modeling industry what many would only dream of.
Some of the models I have scouted include Rome, in 2000. Rome, became "Djamee Models," 1st model. Rome, was featured in many music videos now classics; including Erykah Badu's, "Love Of My Life," as a breakdancer; Jay Z's "Change Clothes," next to Pharell Williams. Most notably Rome, booked a "Levi's 501 Loose Fit jeans." TV ad and web campaign in the Summer of 2004. I met Robert Hayden, on the A, train in July, 2004. One week later Robert, shot with Joseph Rodriguez, for THE FADER magazine "Natives Story", Robert, also shot with celebrity photographer Sarah Friedman, for a look book. He also booked several music videos including a lead part in "Emily king's", "Walk In my Shoes". Robert, who is a recording artist and music producer on the rise named Young Rahda; is one of the models featured in the "United Colors of Benetton," Spring Summer 2010 worldwide campaign. I scouted Kid Cudi, in Soho, in 2006, and sent him to my castings before he was signed to as record deal and became famous; Kid booked with us...
I met Manuel Ramos, in 2005 as he was exiting the "Manhattan Mall." He took me to scout Manuel who is 6.4', a 2nd time to get him to sign on. Strangely I had met him again 6 months later at the same location and sent him to a music video audition on the spot; he did not booked it but made it to the first round; that gave him the confidence to pursue modeling. Since then, Manuel, has walked for "Jeremy Scott," in NYC. He was included in "Givenchy," men ad campaign in 2009 in Paris. I discovered Manuel but I don't manage him. I met Jarret Scantlebury, backstage at BK Fashion Week{end, April 2008. Since, he has been featured in an "Asics," ad campaign for "New York City marathon;" Jarret, walked the tents in Bryant Park, for "Duckie Brown," during "Mercedes Benz Fashion Week." In September 2008, I met Fernando Ravelo, on 14th Street as he was coming back from the gym. Fernando, is a great model. With Jarret, I credit Fernando, for helping me stepping up my photo skills. I discovered Rafael Dominguez, in the Bronx; in September 2009. Rafael, got requests by some of the world most important casting directors right away. Rafael, has shot for Fabien Montique's web site; he is the face of "StuddedSpikes, " my new line of accessories launched October 10th 2009, at BK Fashion Week{end, with the support of Creative Director Rick Davy.
I was credited in "The New York Times," article by "Guy Trebay," "Will His Singularity Lead to Pluralism?" and "Tyra Banks," new site "Redefining Beauty," for bringing Shaun Ross, to the forefront of the modeling industry. Shaun, is the first male working model albino of African American, descent with representation worldwide. He started at Djamee Models, with a presentation for "Tim Hamilton," on February 5th 2008, in New York. Shaun, has shot with some of the most recognized photographers in fashion such as "David Armstrong for Another Man, magazine & Matt Jones, for iD, magazine.
