Some of you may have already noticed - I'm doing an unofficial art opening at my studio apartment right above the first block of the RVA First Friday Artwalk (April 6th - https://www.facebook.com/events/375155095849893/). So, naturally, there's no better way to kick it off than with "a little help from my friends," as Ringo would say. Some have asked about themes, and I've been brainstorming some ideas.

Exhibited art doesn't need a theme, but if I plan to make a music video out of the whole night, the Models/MUAs/Photographer/Filmmakers will need a visual cue to work on...

So I'm thinking "A Zombie Easter or How I Learned to Love Purple People Eaters." (Attire must be revealingly decent).



Of course, one shouldn't sell art alone, and there's two rooms of empty wall space to be filled for any artists interested in exhibiting medium-large works or selling smaller fare. All art must be installed Thursday April 5th. Anyone interested must submit a proposal with sizes and display requirments by Monday April 2nd at 7:30pm. PM me or email me at jon@mrheadlee.comWith that blasphemous and narrowing (perhaps harrowing?) word selection in mind, I'm putting out a call for a competition. his competition is for MUAs/Body Painters and the model that will become their canvas (male and female). One MUA/Body Painter per Model, maximum of 12. For those thinking about doing a take on Day of the Dead traditional styles, please substitute purple for black (this has the added bonus of working with any skin color) - hence the Purple People Eaters. I myself may even join the competition as a Zombie Jesus model (dependent on getting other filmmakers/camera operators involved).

A video of this competition will be cut to Xilent's Choose Me II (2).If you're interested in modeling or applying your painted art, you must contact me by Monday April 2nd with a portfolio/images of example work. If you're a model who has a usual MUA (or vice versa), I'll accept tandem applications. All non-tandemed applications will be matched up Tuesday the 3rd - this will give artist and canvas time to brainstorm beforehand.

The competition will include 90 minutes for the process (yes, this is timed, and no, I don't suggest ) from 6:00-7:30. At that time, we'll invade the streets of the Artwalk for the judging before returning to the gallery at about 8:30pm.I'm also looking for 1-3 Photographers to document the process, 1-2 camera operators, and a BTS (behind-the-scenes) filmmaker.
