Specializing in a style he developed in the 80's. which was a joining of techniques and styles he learned studying Ansel Adams' Zone system, Peter Gowland's glamour and Playboy lighting styles. After turning down a job interview with Playboy, Matthew opened his own studio with a focus on Celebes and models. A studio glamour image would use as many as 25 separate strobes to light a set. His success earned him a special award for his photography from Miss USA/ Universe Inc. and numerous newspaper and TV interviews. Having been one of the more successful studios in Chicago gave Matthew the ability to retire from the retail world at the young age of 48 to travel and concentrate on glamour and photojournalistic endeavors. All of this is quite astounding considering Matthew is rated as being a 70% disabled Air Force Veteran from his tour in the early 70's. He sustain severe injuries in what was described as a non survivable fall when a ledge of the mountain he was on broke loose while on a search and destroy mission, only to go on and receiving a special accommodation for his mountain rescue of 2 downed F105 fighter pilots later that same year and
on the same mountain range that nearly took his life 10 months earlier.
I am no longer shooting
I just can't hold a camera steady any longer.
It was fun while it lasted.
Thank you to all the people I've worked with.
Matthew
