Hey! You got your social science in my fine art! Well, you got your fine art in my social science! |
I'm currently mid-way through a year-long project on Cultural Attitudes Toward the Female Nude in Art, potentially, in conjunction with the Womens' Studies faculty at a local, major research university.
The project is about a third done -- 14 models interviewed; 8 photoshoots complete -- but I'm very open to constructive input from my models and prefer a collaborative atmosphere. The project protocols have been constructed to conform with the University's Institutional Research Board's guidelines for exempt research involving human subjects.
I'm looking for a variety of female models, of various ethnicities, ages, body types and looks. Versatility is a plus. I would prefer models with a natural appearance, but the presence of tattoos and piercings are okay, too. Given my tendencies, a background in dance is a definite plus, but, by no means a must.
Shoots will include studio work and location shoots (in secluded, but outdoor areas, as well as interesting buildings). The budget is limited, so most shoots will be in/around Durham/RTP. Work will range from demure- and partial-nudity to full, albeit artistic, nudity, depending on the model.
Two brief, filmed interviews, prior to and following the photoshoots will serve to gather research data and will be incorporated into the final, artistic result, as a short-form documentary.
All models will receive CDs/DVDs of all photos, including any test shoots, as well as a limited number of 8x10 prints, of select photographs, if desired. (Monetary compensation is unlikely, for the near term, as this is self-funded, for the moment.)
I will provide hard copies of my standard model release and usage license, as well as the notice of informed consent, for your review, at our initial 'go-see' meeting. All photographic subjects must sign a modeling release at the beginning of the shoot.
