Details :
Looking for models, partial nudity, nudity, not nude.
What is life casting ?
So these are the process details:
Using gypsum bandage for the majority, the same than use hospital when you break a arm or legs... and alginate (dental alginate).
We cover the body with it, in different part 2 or more depend of the position choose by me and the model, this to get a mould of the complete body.
From this moulds, (this is done later, need around 2/4 weeks, that’s my duty) after correcting the imperfection (of the mould), closing it, I pour some material inside, (last time I use chocolate, this time I plan only one statue will be made from chocolate, the other will be made from different material, as resins, sand, glass stone....)
then correct some imperfections, some statue will be paint...
The life casting process requires around 3 to 4 hours:
- Explanation of the sensation when cover with gypsum or silicone.
(During all the process I keep talking to you.)
- Trying different position (should match what I want express and very important be comfortable for the model, as she/he have to keep it around 1 hour)
- Cover the body, hair, clothes with Vaseline cream to protect and made the mould easier to open later.
- Starting the life casting, with the help of one of my assistant.
- When life casting is finish must wait around 10 minute to remove the mould.
- Then the model needs time for shower, wash hair (quiet long due to Vaseline).
Its very important to understand that to do that I have to touch every part of your body, the sensation is (comment from the previews models) "like when you put cream on your body, a very light massage", one even fall asleep during the process... had to stop as she was slowly falling, and start again.
This will be part of an exhibition plan for March 2011 for Earth Day.
This exhibition will be done with the participation of some Indonesian and foreign artists living in Indonesia.
Everybody is welcome to join to expose his art work as long its follow the theme "Earth End".
I work also with some student of Jakarta Art School, pantomime whose will be models and acting during the exhibition too.
For the models I paid RP 500.000 for the full body cast.
If the model agree she/he can be present at the press conference, this would be great.
The 2008 exhibition, held 1 month in Plaza Indonesia got coverage on all TV channels and around 30 magazines and news paper, as well as international articles from Portugal to Japan, this due to the presence of AFP reporter, its still possible to find some in internet, by typing my name (Francis S. Mestre, and/or modernity).
This will be a non profit exhibition, if some one wish to buy some statue, the model will get percentage of his/her statue price.(not define yet)
I also still looking for sponsors, as the cost for such exhibition is too high for me only, any help is welcome even not financial.
For any information contact her on istudio.
