LAUREN ABRAHAM BIOGRAPHY
First turning heads as a professional snowboarder and avid skier, Lauren Abraham has since worn a multitude of hats. A recognized fitness expert, as published in “Muscle and Fitness Magazine” and “Bodybuilding.com” she's also a coveted TV and live event host, emcee, entertainment producer and director. Then there are her diverse talents as an entrepreneur, writer, motivational speaker and skilled dancer! Having brought her exotic beauty and sharp wit to such Fox Sports Network shows as “Destination Wild” "Fusion TV" and "The Best Damn Sports Show Period," this last winter season, she jumped to the other major sports broadcaster, ESPN, as host of the 2008 Winter X Games.
A native of Tacoma, Washington, Lauren Ariel Abraham derives her unique look from a winning combination of Spanish, French, Lebanese, and Irish ancestry. Slipping her toes into her first ballet shoes at age three, she strapped on her first pair of skis only a year later, soon developing a passion for ski racing on the weekends. By middle school, having won many ski-racing competitions, she was well on her way to the junior Olympics and the fulfillment of her dream of becoming a professional athlete.
A natural performer, whose devilish nature and fearlessness led to a stint as a rock singer in a high school garage band, Lauren excelled in the latest and trendiest sport at that time - snowboarding – becoming both a competitive skier and snowboarder. Also adept at water sports, her dynamic wakeboarding technique helped her excel on the slopes and, in her first season of snowboarding, she was sponsored by several companies that believed in her ability as a pioneer of the latest trends.
As her snowboard career ascended like a high-speed quad, Lauren made the decision to move to Lake Tahoe and enrolled in Sierra Nevada College. Having served as writer and editor-in-chief of her college prep school’s Art and Literary Magazine, she became a lead journalist at Sierra Nevada's newspaper and also applied her writing skills in presenting a proposal to the school for a collegiate snowboard team. In her junior year, Lauren was awarded the first snowboard scholarship at her college, was ranked fifth in the nation for the AST Boardercross division, and was featured in magazines such as “Snowboarder” and “European Snowboarder.”
In January 2001 Lauren was hired as a stunt double for a Hollywood film at Big Bear, California, but a disastrous mishap left her in a wheelchair, nearly paralyzed, with two broken ankles, ribs and nose. Forced to withdraw from school, and enduring extensive surgeries and two years of physical therapy, she eventually hobbled to snowboard competitions, still wanting to be a part of the sport she loved. In 2003 Lauren was given a new opportunity behind a microphone as Lake Tahoe's new Mistress of Ceremonies for both ski and snowboarding competitions. Word quickly spread of her natural talent, and she was soon asked to host the live morning show, "Tahoe Today."
Lauren subsequently landed other local and national hosting gigs - "Get Hooked," a dating game show filmed at Caesars Tahoe in front of a studio audience, Fox Sports Network's extreme sports series "Fusion TV" and Spike TV's "Shred Café" - along with numerous guest spots including those on Fox Sports Net's "The Best Damn Sports Show Period." The Vice President of Fox Sports asked Warren Miller Entertainment to approach Lauren to host their new travel adventure series, "Destination Wild!" which is currently re-running on Fox Sports Net. While emceeing live events, from bikini contests to fashion shows, New Year Bashes and Mardi Gras Festivals, she also continued to push her recovered abilities as athlete, participating in everything in the show from snowboarding to rock climbing to skydiving and surfing.
In June 2004, Lauren's giving spirit and her desire to share her success with her friends led her to establish “Lauren Abraham Entertainment” a talent agency specializing in unique nightclub entertainment and dance performance. When Harrah's Casino hired her as the official MC for their events, giving her a yacht to turn into her own nightclub, "Captain Babe-raham" took command of the Ship. As Captain of entertainment, she was choreographing its dance numbers, overseeing the performances, employment, and supervising all nightclub operations. Lauren’s skills, as a nightclub director and event producer, were also embraced by other institutions, such as Caesars Tahoe, Harvey’s Casino, Nikki Beach Reno, to the Kalanis Club of Hawaii, Boulevard 23 of Los Angeles, and CAA.
Since relocating to Los Angeles to do full-time acting studies at the Larry Moss Studio and Howard Fine Studio, and also hone in on her hosting skills, Lauren has recently appeared in five episodes of the syndicated television series "Jury Duty." She has hosted many fitness DVD’s, hosted and directed “The first annual Ultimate Boarder” and is currently working on putting together two pilots. Having already become an entrepreneur at age sixteen, creating a jewelry line sold at Nordstrom department stores, she is now currently launching her own fashion line, “Movement” a tribal chic watch company inspired by her design of club costumes and edgy lifestyle.
